Guest Cat (Lucky Number) 13: Pooka needs Water
The Woman first wants to thank you all for responding to The Drama of Henry.    She's finally well enough to stop sneezing and start posting.

We now return you to our Irregularly Scheduled Cat Photos!

Pooka owns cinnabari  and nous_athanatos.    Obviously owns them.
He's a graceful 12lbs of sheer muscle, a Big Black Cat who reminds everyone how lucky they are to be owned by such a large, and toothy specimen of cathood.   Here's what cinnabari  had to say  about this photo:

Pooka is forever asking to have water from the bathtub tap. Never
sinks. Only the tub. To achieve this goal, he will:

- lurk outside the bathroom when people shower and attempt to trip  them when they come out.
- sit in the MIDDLE of the floor and yell at the top of his lungs until someone looks at him, at which point he will run and jump into
the bathtub.
- lie in wait for people who might happen to walk past the bathroom.  He does this by huddling up in a dark, invisible ball, exactly where
people might walk if they're going through the hall with the lights  off.  When the inevitable collision occurs, he takes advantage of Shouting

Human to rush into the bathtub and yell for compensatory tap water.

He usually gets his way, but never before having to ask.
(And yes, he has a perfectly full bowl of water.)

The Cat Says:
Yell LOUDER Pooka!  Don't forget, the people in the parking lot need to know how badly you need water!

and oh, btw, The Woman has put up a photo of The Cat here
along with other photos of hers.  The other photos don't matter because there are no cats involved.

==============
BTW - The Woman meant to ask... anyone else's cats do something similar?  The Cat used to love to drink out of the faucet back in Kentucky.
Unfortunately Toronto tap water just isn't good enough for him now.

The Cat's eyes are such a beautiful seafoam-greenish type color - very unique :) and the "other photos" are wonderful as well. I saw that you have a Canon G6 = me very jealous! I'm just starting to dabble in photography as a hobby, so you have my admiration.

Catnip sits in the bathtub and hollers. HOLLERS. She's deaf as a post, so, like a little old lady who's hard of hearing, she talks very loud. And in the bathroom, it echoes. She also sits on the counter and hollers when she wants water in the sink. She, too, has a bowl of water conveniently located right next to her food dish.

Oh that's so much fun!
They are amazing critters after all!

Sigh considering the drama of washing Ayeva's bloomers and butt today it's a water topic-sorta-day.

Not really. Ayeva sucks up the water for the bamboo on my desk in the studio.

Oh yes, dear stupid Seamus cannot drink out of a normal bowl for whatever reason. He prefers the tub, but in our current apartment the tap doesn't drip quite to his liking (either not enouogh or too much and it scares him) so he's had to settle for drippies in the sink. Every once in a while he can also be seen dangling his entire upper body into the toilet for a sip. It's gross, but also funny as hell, he looks like a fuzzy little person with a hangover.

That's too funny!

I bought a fountain for my girls to drink from. They just LOVE it. It cuts down on their need for sink water...

Heh, I bought a fountain for my Seamus too. He thought it was an interesting play thing for a few days, then ignored it completely.

Too funny! I'm glad mine like theirs, I think it's a big part of what's helped keep my sick kitty doing so well. Also, my sister's cat is named Seamus too!

My Thunar loves "mom soup." Every time I go into the bathroom or say "bathtime!" he runs in there and starts yeowling his head off! He howls and howls until I fill up the bathtub, then cries until I climb in.
Once I'm settled, he stands up on his back feet, rests his front feet on the edge of the tub, stretches his neck down and drinks!
I can't use soap or anything until Thunar has had "mom soup" because I don't want him drinking soap, and I'm a terribly indulgent mommy.

LOL!
All baths taste better with a bit of human in them. Mom-Soup. hehehe!

I have to know if any other cat does THIS:

My cat Jupiter can't just lap up the water in his dish. He paws at it with one paw (similar to pawing litter) then scoops the water up in his paw and licks it off his paw. This is AFTER his warmup floor scratches in front of the dish. First time I caught him at it I just stared in amazement, then started laughing my head off.

My Cat Mikka does the EXACT same thing. I thought I was the only one. I can always tell when its him drinking cuz I hear the scratching on the carpet.
Eobsidiabuttrfly on February 11th, 2007 04:53 am (UTC)
That's how my Myster Y (big black cat) likes to eat his wet cat food. Hehe!
the_cat_saysthe_cat_says on February 12th, 2007 02:12 pm (UTC)
The Cat has been known to do the same thing!
The woman wonders if some cats want to make sure it is the perfect temperature? The Cat doesn't do it all the time though - just every once in a while. He also likes to occasionally drink from glasses of water on the nightstand.
cisforcorrie on February 10th, 2007 04:37 am (UTC)
In the morning when I get up, I "amble aimlessly" into my kitchen and make like I'm just checking things out, faking the cats out totally as they follow me in, then I rush into the bathroom to get into the shower before they do.

Otherwise I have to wrangle two cats out of the tub before I can do so.

Pooka is lovely.

henrey (in the user icon) prefers to drink from a pint glass.

This really has absolutely nothing to do with The Cat, sadly, but...
I still adore your photography. It's amazing! How much do you ask for your prints?
the_cat_saysthe_cat_says on February 12th, 2007 02:08 pm (UTC)
hmm.. if you still do web design, maybe we can talk. :D
the cat needs a very simple site. (simple enough that I can add photos each week or so with some simple captions). i'm enjoying the cat blogging more than I would have believed possible. ::rolls eyes::

I saw your mini-double today on the street car. I was staring and staring until i figured out where i thought i knew her! it was your mini-me... not really that short though, about 5ft. Still, someone might have been cloning you.
Eobsidiabuttrfly on February 13th, 2007 01:52 am (UTC)
Yep yep! I do web design still. Just not often. I'd be happy to make something for you, though. :)

People are constantly cloning me, apparently. Everyone thinks I look like someone they know. There is (or was) also someone who lives in the same town with the same first name who looks just like me (according to three separate people). Weird, no?

I am the Valentine Fairy! You have been valentined!

I'm thinking about you and wanted you to know that Valentine's day isn't just for schmoopy couples! It's for all of us saps!

Happy Valentine's Day! *early*

I LOVE this picture. I can hear Pooka's complaint just looking at it.

I am also a big complainer, although not usually about water. Mostly I stare at the humans and scream whenever I am having some kind of existential crisis that they are too stupid to understand. The humans' ineffective response is usually to try and pick me up, whereupon I flee to safety and resume screaming.

Oooo what a handsome cat! He looks like me! And I too like water from the faucet:)
