The Cat has Departed...
As The Woman is home sick she feels *now* is the time to talk about Henry.

Poor Henry wasn't very happy.  Every night he cried and cried .. "Maaaaaaaauve!"  "Mauuuuuve!"  "Maooouve!".  Mom stayed up and tried reading to him, but as soon as she was in bed he would cry from his little space under the sofa-chair.

Then he stopped eating.  No crunchy food.  No.  No stinky food either.  Mom got worried.   She enticed him to eat a mouthful .. and then he'd just refuse.  As soon as it got quiet the mauving began:
"Maaaaaaaauve!"  "Mauuuuuve!"

We talked to Mom.  The good people at PAWS Toronto talked to her and The Woman.  Henry would be fine for a while and then just be miserable at night.  Mom played a radio.  Still .. Henry was LOUD... (we could hear him down the hall and through a closed door)...
and then the neighbours logged a complaint about noise.   "The Maaaaaaaauving," they said. "Must stop!"

Finally Henry upped his hunger strike.  He also stopped drinking water.   At that point it was looking quite drastic.

Henry went back to the kind people at PAWS Toronto.  Evidently they think he had bonded to another cat (or two) that he was rescued with -  and by the sounds he was in mourning.  Poor Henry.   He's VERY Happy now though - and it looks like he won't be adopted out solo again.  Seems like he bonded.

Poor Mom's traumatized by the cat experience...  and she said she's not going to think of the word CAT for a loooong time.

The Woman is just very sad.  At least though, Henry is happy.. and really that's what's important.

Tears! Tears for all. At least Henry is OK for now. But it's hard to re-settle two or three cats all together.
Poor Mom!

Get better and feel better soon!

Tried to post on your photo 'ventures but I'm not listed so here:

Beautiful and impressive work! Go for it and set up your own Studio!

Oh, that is so sad..for both mom and cat. :( I had a cat that made that same noise..it is VERY loud. I got him a playmate and he was OK. Then, when he died, his playmate was very sad for a long time, and made those same noises. For a while. Then he took over his deceased cat-friend's places in the house...the special chair, the perch, and ...my chest. Things he never did before, when his buddy was around.
The whole thing was VERy sad, and very weird. Cats have weird bonds and ideas about things that I will never understand. Sounds like the PAWS Toronto folks were WONDERFUL throughout though :) yay for that at least.

Poor Henry and Poor Mum. I'm glad Henry went back to PAWS though.

I'm also home sick.

oh no! It seemed so promising! Poor Henry ... sounds like PAWS is quite the gem of a rescue place though. I'm sorry that the Mom is overly traumatized by this, I hope that it doesn't last "forever"

Oh that's heartbreaking!! :( Poor Henry! Poor Mom! I'm glad Henry is happy again, but oh! Can't Mom adopt ALL the kitties??
We have the local OSPCA come in for interviews at work once a week, and they always bring a new pet to spotlight (usually a kitty because they have so many) and I want to take them all home :(

Oh dear. I'd so hoped that it would work out. Henry looks like such a lovely cat, though I'm not surprised he bonded with other cats during nine months at his foster parent's home. I hope your mom doesn't give up entirely on the kitty idea just because the first adoption didn't turn out to be a good match.

Maybe do some research on breed temperament. Persian-type cats, for example, are known to be docile and friendly (you'd have to be to put up with being hauled around to cat shows and primped up all the time), and they do show up at shelters and rescue groups. Check Craig's List 'Pets' section, too... Here's a 'Himalayan' in need of a home:

They need daily brushing, though, and this posting doesn't give much info about the fluffy guy, so I'd ask for more (like, what's up - or down, in this case - with his left ear? It's endearing and unique, but I'd like to know). The person adopting him out is moving, too, so fluffy wouldn't come with a 'return policy', but this is just an example.

There are so many sweet, wonderful cats in need of homes, I hate to see a potential home 'disappear'. But if mom's learned any cat would be too much for her, then that's probably for the best, too.

I'm so sorry it hasn't worked out :( I hope he finds another place with his new friends soon. I'm sure there will be another cat that fits the bill soon tho
